Onboard electronic component operations

OMRON's automotive electronics business specializes in onboard electronic components aimed at auto makers and automotive component makers. OMRON provides a broad spectrum of built-in components for automobiles, such as controllers, sensors, switches and relays. In this field, where innovation is required on a daily basis, OMRON pursues reliability, safety, convenience, comfort, environmental friendliness and energy efficiency. In order to create safer, more comfortable automobiles, we are developing a number of hi-tech components, such as a power window switch with an anti-pinching function and a keyless entry system. Here too, OMRON products are contributing to safety and comfort every time you get in the car.

We are applying our unique sensing and control technologies to provide onboard electronic parts, such as high-performance controllers, sensors, switches and relays, to enable automobiles to become increasingly sophisticated in the future.

Aiming for safe automobiles that are gentle on both people and the environment, OMRON core technologies challenge new areas of car electronics.

OMRON's mission is to provide onboard electronic components and systems that will take automobiles five to ten years into the future, based on the themes of safety/security, convenience/comfort and environmental friendliness/energy efficiency. OMRON works to develop new car electronic components day in and day out. "Crashless cars" that avoid collisions all by themselves are not too far off.

Third-generation Laser Radar

Product

Laser radar plays a central role in cutting-edge safety systems, such as pre-crash safety systems that predict the risk of automobile collisions and control automobiles to mitigate the damage. Highly sensitive radar and a wide viewing angle help to achieve a travel control system that senses the distance to the car ahead and automatically adjusts speed.

Passive Entry

Products

This system features reinforced security functions that are supported by OMRON authentication technology, such as automatic locking and unlocking of doors using the radio control of a handheld device, and starting the engine without having to insert a key, to improve automobile safety.

Electric Power Steering (EPS) Controller

Product

This mechanism enables smooth steering wheel operation. Compared with a conventional hydraulic system, the motor-driven power steering controller also helps to lower fuel consumption. This energy-saving effect is leading to an increase in the installation of this product on new automobile models.
