Imagine a door that unlocks automatically to welcome you when you come back home. Wouldn't that be very convenient and refreshing? OMRON's pre-touch sensor makes it possible. So you no longer have to search inside your bag or shirt pocket to find the key as the sensor-equipped door locks or unlocks automatically as long as you have the key in your bag or pocket.

When a person intends to do something, there is a good chance that he or she will touch something in the process. The pre-touch sensor was developed by paying attention to hand motion. By swiftly detecting a hand coming into contact with the door, the pre-touch sensor estimates the person's intention and unlocks the door. A miniaturized sensor incorporated into the door handle intermittently transmits radio waves and checks whether the person has a key, then verifies that the key's response signal matches the wavelength of the source wave. Once it is verified that the person lives in the house, the door will unlock automatically. Of course, the whole process is executed so quickly that the person will not have to wait long in front of the door. Moreover, the pre-touch sensor is highly resistant to dirt and withstands harsh outdoor conditions, thus making installation possible anywhere, including housing, offices and automobiles.
